Nebiat is an award-winning documentary filmmaker, experienced documentary film consultant, talented videographer, and video editor. Her skills lie in the capture of not only a visual story but also a powerful emotional connection with the viewer. Nebiat has experience working on projects ranging from corporate and personal branding through to short-form online media. She got her first masters degree in Theatre and Development from Addis Ababa University and recently graduated from the University of California at Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism, specialized in Documentary filmmaking.
Her recent 24 min documentary won Knight Award for Best Reporting on a Science and Environment Subject, and nominated in a Best Short Documentary category at Pan Africa Film Festival, Montreal Black Film Festival, San-Diego Black Film Festival. Nebiat is a fellow of the Vital Voices Women in Leadership, and a member of Graca Machel African Women in Media Network. She is passionate about African stories and shedding light under-reported issues.
I am independent video journalist and documentary filmmaker based in Addis Ababa. I am interested in telling African stories, throughout my career life I have done several reporting about Ethiopian as well as African socio-economic, culture and entertainment industry. I am interested working on human interest stories and my recent works are related on human relation to the environment.
